Dear President Barack Obama & Speaker of the House John Boehner,
Please conduct an investigation of Flight KAL 007.
On September 1, 1983 the Soviet Air Force shot down a passenger aircraft, Korean Air Lines Flight 007, with 269 passengers and crew aboard. The passengers included Congressman Lawrence Patton McDonald, D-Georgia, as well as 60 other Americans. The flight was en route from Anchorage, Alaska to Seoul, Korea when it strayed off course and entered Soviet airspace.
At the time, it was given out that the plane was destroyed in midair and that all aboard perished. This has been the general consensus ever since despite a great deal of evidence that has surfaced over the years to the contrary. The evidence, including a full review of Black Box tapes and transcripts of air-to-ground communications by the International Civil Aviation Organization in 1993, makes it clear that the plane was not destroyed in the air and actually made a controlled descent with the distinct possibility of a safe water ditching. Additional evidence raises the possibility that those aboard the plane were taken captive by the KGB and imprisoned.
The International Committee for the Rescue of KAL 007 Survivors, Rescue077.org,
has been analyzing this evidence and making it available to the public through their website and publications. They are also calling for a new investigation by the US and other governments to take up where the ICAO investigation of 1993 left off in order to answer so many unanswered questions.
It is quite possible that many of the passengers and crew are still alive and hidden in the former Soviet Union.
It is a sad thing when no one in our government is willing to look into this matter especially when it involves a US congressman and when it should be easier to look for people in Russia now that we have such a good relationship and the country is so much more open.

Saint Raphael Food Pantry is located in the basement of the Rectory at 38 Boston Ave., Medford, MA. It is available to Medford residents only and is open on Tuesdays from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. This program assists approximately 65 to 70 needy families weekly and is staffed by 15 parish volunteers. The needy families receive assorted groceries i.e.--bread, fresh vegetables when available, frozen foods and other staples. Food donations are received from local merchants and our parishioners who bring donations for the food pantry to the church on the first weekend of each month. Saint Vincent de Paul Society and the Greater Boston Food Bank also contributes to the Food Pantry.
The Saint Raphael Food Pantry staff would like to thank all the donors who have given so graciously throughout the year. A special thanks to Panera Bread of Everett, Whole Foods, Roberto's Fruits and Vegetable Store and Lyndell's Bakery who continue to support the food pantry on a weekly basis.
